Obsidian has been busy lately with the release of the Sci-Fi first-person shooter RPG The Outer Worlds, which just released in Oct. of 2019, as well as a new DLC for The Outer Worlds coming September 9th, a new Adventure-Rpg following a boy who has been shrinking to the size of an ant titled Grounded coming soon to Xbox, they have now announced a new fantasy RPG that's being rumored to be better than Skyrim. This new game is called Avowed
Although the release date for Avowed hasn't been announced yet. We do know its another first-person RPG from Obsidian, it takes place in the same universe as their old game Pillars of Eternity and looks a lot like Skyrim. Obsidian is known for taking classic RPG games and adding their unique quirks and writing such as in Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2 which spun off from the original game released by Bioware, Pillars of Eternity which was obsidians take on the Baldur's Gate series also by Bioware, and Fallout: New Vegas which is their rendition of the Bethesda franchise.
Avowed is Obsidian's first Fantasy-based first-person game with most of their games having more of a Sci-Fi appeal at least somewhat. Now, this may not seem important but one must think about this on creative terms. This could mean Avowed could be a disasterpiece or a masterpiece because obsidian will be stepping out of their comfort zones having to create unique environments and surroundings using an art style they're not used to.
Microsoft Studios head Matt Booty described Avowed as the epic game that Obsidian has wanted to make for years, and as a project "built from the ground up to take advantage of Xbox Series X."
